My number one reason for not being religious (aside from not believing in a God) is the hypocrisy and lack of morality I see too much among those who do believe in ‘God’ and call themselves religious. They say things like, “God is all-forgiving,” and act as though I’m the bad person for holding someone’s actions against them. I’m not sorry, but I don’t agree with the theory that you can be the worst, most immoral person on the planet and you can ask your God for forgiveness and all is well again. No, that’s not okay. They need to be held accountable. Some things are not possibly a ‘mistake,’ some things are pure evil and there are no ways for redemption.
I judge people on their actions. I’ll admit that. I have a standard of what is, and what is not, a “good person” in my eyes. I might be hateful to “bad people” and I might think that some of them deserve to suffer, which I can see how some people would think is wrong, but then, I’m not the one torturing living things, raping young girls, murdering little babies, enjoying watching two creatures fight to their death. Lack of punishment for those things, in my eyes, is the same as standing there and watching it all happen and doing nothing. Lock them up, throw away the key, treat them the way they asked to be treated through their actions. Call me a bad person for that, but it makes me sick the things people get away with. Starving dogs to within an inch of their life and throwing them out with the garbage. Kicking a little 7lb Yorkie so hard it’s eye comes out. It’s not right, and something needs to be done.
So, yeah, Michael Vick fans, I’m going to hold a grudge and I am going to hate that scum for what he did. He didn’t make a mistake, he knew what he was doing. He just didn’t care. He still does not care. I’m willing to bet that he will never care. So, stop making excuses for him, because that’s what they are. Being good at a sport is not redemption. Pretending to speak to others’ about the evils of dog fighting on a very minimum level to keep people off your back, that is not redemption.
I’m going to speak up for the innocent lives he ruined. I’m going to fight for the lives that were lost at his hands. Because, he used his own two hands to steal life. And for what? FOR WHAT?
It makes me sick.
